5 out of 5 stars Hear Bose sound before you bash it   December 27, 2008

I did quite a bit of research before getting the Bose SoundDock II. I wanted a dock that would work with my iPod touch 2G, have superb sound quality, and preferably charge my iPod while docked. Well I have to say that I got all i wanted and then some with this unit.

I read some reviews online written by "audiophiles" and supposed "sound experts" bashing Bose for selling overpriced and underpowered equipment. These people just don't get it. I won't go on to bore you in detail about the ridiculous things that were said but I will mention that these people are comparing the SoundDock to a home stereo setup that entails having a receiver with two separate wired speakers. Is this a fair comparison? I beg to differ.

To summarize this product it's a compact unit you can have in virtually any room in the house minus a bathroom (for safety purposes) and its sound can be described as warm and beautiful with deep enough bass to make your sound come alive but not wake the neighbors. Clear, never distorted at any volume. You get what you pay for.

Thanks Bose!

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Speaker   September 8, 2009

The Bose SoundDock Series II is an excellent little speaker system. My wife and I have been extremely pleased with it and use it virtually every day. It produces a very clear sound and has enough power to fill a large room. That said, it should not be compared with a high quality component system, anymore than a high quality component system should be compared to live music. It's sound should satisfy all but the most committed audiophiles.

We use our Bose SoundDock almost exclusively with Pandora, an internet based music streaming service that allows you to create stations that play music you love through your computer or Ipod. The combination of Pandora with our Bose SoundDock has resulted in us listening to far more music than we have in the past. We no longer have to place a CD in the player and change it when it is finished. We now have simple and easy access to high quality music that we love. I highly recommend both the Bose SoundDock and Pandora to anyone who loves music.

I have always enjoyed the Bose sound so was glad to know that I could listen to the ipod on my iphone by docking with this unit. Also important was to be able to listen to my Creative Zen via an audio jack. This meets both criterias and gives the ulimate of sound. William Tell Overture never sounded better.

5 out of 5 stars Pricey Good Sound   February 8, 2010

Lots of options now for a good set of speakers for an IPOD. After reading lots of reviews on the high end speakers, narrowed my choices to three. Went to a nearby big box store to listen to them all. They were all good but the Bose did sound the best to me. I'm very pleased with my choice.

As others have said you get what you pay for and this is probably one of the best sounding ipod dock on the market. I've researched and listened to all the other ones and wasn't initially sold on Bose because of the high price. Then visited a lot of stores and listened to all of the comparable priced ($150-$300)ones side by side and the Altec Lansing came close, but still the Bose has clearest sound at the low, high and midranges. Unless you are an audiophile you may not care about it and can save $100+. But if you listen to them side by side you can tell the difference. One minor thing the Bose lacks is the stereo seperation, but for its size not bad. Some other docks have a stereo seperation feature and maybe Bose could incorportae that in the next series III. All in all, most won't be dissapointed and this is a B-day present for my wife so I didn't want to dissapoint her and I chose the Bose.

I bought it at Electonics-Expo and they shipped it quickly the same day and I recived it in 2 days.
