Product Description All Weather Speaker System with Wide Frequency Response
Amazon.com Product Description Now you can groove to your favorite tunes, rain or shine. Yamaha's NS-AW350W bookshelf speakers are perfect for deck or porch placement, delivering punchy bass and even, extended treble in just about any desired location. You can bring them in during the cold months and set them up indoors, too: their high build quality and good sound lend them equally well to two-channel indoor listening. The speakers, which are sold as a pair, each use a 6.5-inch high-compliance, polypropylene, mica-filled woofer and 1-inch PEI dome tweeter. The drivers are optimized for high rigidity but low mass, giving them high sensitivity (87 dB with 2.83V at 1 meter), another way of saying they're easily driven by modest amplifiers. Their acoustic-suspension cabinets are sealed to prevent undue resonance or tubby, tuneless bass, which often results from low-cost ported designs. With a nominal impedance of 6 ohms, the speakers will work nicely with amplifiers up to 40 watts per channel, nominal, or 130 watts, peak power. They boast a frequency response of 55 to 40,000 Hz (+/-3 dB), giving you reasonably full bass for their size and unusually extended high-frequency response for your most demanding digital media. The speakers are magnetically shielded, so you can place them on or near a TV or video monitor without fear of picture degradation from their magnetic fields. Five-way binding posts simplify connection with several different terminations of speaker cable (including banana plugs), and the NS-AW350Ws even come with two lengths of cable to get you started. While you wouldn't want to leave the speakers exposed on, say, the deck of a boat, they are water resistant and designed to withstand light wind and rain--a benefit of their sealed enclosures and rugged metal grilles. The speakers come with mounting bases and brackets. What's in the Box Two speakers, two lengths of speaker cable, speaker bases, mounting brackets, a warranty card, and a user's manual.

Great Speakers if your on a budget!! March 7, 2009 David R. Thomas (Hesperia, CA US) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought 2 pairs of these for my backyard. I placed them across the patio. The speakers are larger then I expected but it didn't effect my install. Just take a quick measurement if your mounting in tight spaces. The mounting brackets can be mounted either Vertically or Horizontally, and allow you to adjust the speakers either Vertically or Horizontally but not both. This will depend which way you mount them. The sound output on these speakers is wonderful. I have them hooked up to an Onkyo receiver, and if I crank it up the backyard is jumping. The speakers produce crisp clear sound and perform well. They are a little weak on the bass. I added the wired sub that came with my Onkyo receiver to complete my sound. But even without the sub these speakers rock. I am sure you can find better speakers for a lot more money. Buy why would you. Enjoy
A Best Buy June 1, 2009 Audiophilist 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The highs are crisp and the bass is good, overall a nice warm sound. This is surprising considering that these are outdoor speakers. Be aware that these are 6 ohm speakers, so you need an amplifier with "guts". My 100 watt Sony would overheat and cut off. However, the Harmon Kardon with 55 watts played these speakers superbly, its just not in the wattage.
Mounting the speakers vertical or horizontal with the enclosed brackets may turn out to be a misnomer for some consumers. The direction can only be controlled in the vertical position. This is important in high mounts with the need to point the speakers downward. Of course you can just devise your own mounts. Overall , these are a great speaker and carry a terrific low price.
Great Purchase July 21, 2009 J. Bushee 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
These speakers simply sound great. For me, they have passed the test of low key relaxing afternoons by the pool, to large and loud back yard parties, to rough Midwest winters by the hot tub. They have exceeded my expectations in both sound and quality. I have had my set for over three years now and they are still going strong. I'm now looking to add another pair. My only complaints would be: 1) They are much bigger than you think. 2) In order to turn them right or left you have to mount them horizontally, which can be awkward. 3) After about two years the white really started to become yellow (because of this my next set will be the black model). All in all, if these $80 speakers can keep pounding out good quality sound for over three years, you can't go wrong.
Yamaha AW350W outdoor speakers May 29, 2007 Matthew A. Clauer 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The speakers sound very nice. I have a pair in my outdoor BBQ area. There are no walls for the sound to bounce off of but they still sound great. The speakers came with all of the different mounting brackets which was really nice. If I needed more outdoor speakers I would buy these again
Great speakers - But BIG February 9, 2008 E. Barnes (Solana Beach, CA) I neglected to look closely at the physical size of these speakers when I ordered them (my bad) so when they got there, boy was I surprised at how big they were. However, that was my mistake and getting beyond that, these speakers are very nice. On thing I really liked about them was the included parts for mounting them in various ways. I ended up using the included brackets and fasteners to mount them directly to the 1/2" threaded opening on a standard exterior electrical box. I had never seen this before but it worked out great since when I wired my patio for speakers during our remodel, I used standard electrical boxes to land the speaker wires (this made the stucco guys job easier).
Anyway, I mounted them easily and they sound great, even though they are a big large for my patio.
